Ministry of Solid Minerals Vacancy on Director General/Chief Executive Officer (Jos)

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development is responsible for identifying the nation's solid minerals, advising government on the formulation and execution of laws and regulations guiding the various stages of prospecting, quarrying and mining; and handling sale and consumption of solid minerals in the country, through the issuance of Permits, Licenses, Leases and Collection of rents, Fees and Royalties. It was established in 1985 as a bold attempt by the Nigerian Government to spur the rapid and beneficial development of the country's solid mineral resources. We are an agency set up to unlock the economic potentials of the solid minerals sub-sector. It’s also an agency that is set up to unlock the economic potentials of the solid minerals in different sub-sector of the Nigeria resources. Her mission statement is to explore the mineral endowment, spread it across all the nation and also establishment a vibrant metal industry for wealth creation, employment generation, poverty reduction, promotion of rural economy and significant contribution to the gross domestic product of Nigeria, with a driving vision of transforming Nigerian Mineral and Metal Sector into irresistible Mining destination for global capital, attracting foreign direct investment to grow the sector to optimum level.

In view of the above, the ministry has opened up doors for suitably qualified Nigerian candidates to fill the below position:

Core purpose of the job is to take full responsibility for the execution of policies and general day to day running of the affairs of the Agency, which will be running for a period of four years, and it is still renewable.

Discipline Required;

The candidate should possess at least a Doctorate Degree from a recognized Institution in a discipline related to the mandate of the Agency;

Should have had at least 25 years post-graduation experiences with five (5) at least in a management role

The candidate should possess a combination of technical, managerial and leadership abilities, which includes, but not limited to:

Excellent leadership skill/qualities and strategic vision coupled with organizational and managerial skills;

Scientific and technical competence with demonstrable knowledge of mineral processing; and

Demonstrable knowledge of the issues, laws and regulations of the Nigerian Mining Sector.

Be a member of a professional Association relevant to the activities of the Centre will be a plus.

Benefit/ Salary

Salaries and Allowances etc follows the Federal Government policies on Amendment Bill Act 2008 and this can be modified from time to time by competent Federal Authorities.
